People see yin and yang everyday. From sunlight and darkness to man and woman, the idea of yin and yang is present in everyday lives. But where did it come from?
The concept of yin and yang is a fundamental idea of Taoism, which started sometime around the 4th or 3rd century in China. Taoism belief is to live in balance and harmony with Tao, which means principle.
The symbol of taijitu is what is used to represent yin and yang. The idea of yin and yang is the coming together of two things to make something whole. Important understandings of yin and yang include the fact that something is neither completely yin nor yang. Everything is a mix of both, and that yin and yang changes through time. It is never something that stays the same.
Next time you are walking down the street or taking the time to look around, think about the different forms of yin and yang that you see. It's interesting how you can find it almost everywhere you go.
