J-POP, also known as Japanese pop, is a genre of music that was introduced to Japan in the 1990's. Music was influenced during the 60's when bands like The Beatles were popular and influential. Other regions have copied this style and have made it their own. Rock and hip-hop have also influenced Japanese music during the 21st century. In the 2000s, the anime industry added weight to Japanese music after Hatsune Miku, a vocaloid, was introduced to the public. Idol groups were introduced and gained popularity around the country. Two popular groups would be AKB48 and Arashi.
