Twice (트와이스) formed by JYP entertainment debuted on October 20, 2015 through a reality show Sixteen. The show had sixteen different contestants and at the end, the CEO of JYP, Park Jin-young, picked nine girls to be apart of the group.
These survival shows have been getting popular lately with the immense popularity of 'I.O.I' that debuted on May 4th, 2016 and other groups such as Big Bang, 2PM, 2AM, WINNER, iKON, MONSTA X, and more. These survival shows allow viewers to be apart of the choosing system by voting for the members they like the most. This creates a fanbase before the group even debuts and allows a steady income.
Twice has not been letting people down with their first comeback "Cheer Up" that achieved an all-kill (which is when a song is #1 on all major music charts). After their successful debut with "Like Ooh-Ahh", Twice finally came back after six months. "Like Ooh-Ahh" was the most viewed debut music video in K-pop and the group has gained about 1.5 million dollars from commercials alone. They proved themselves as monster rookies with beautiful visuals.
