KCON, the Korean culture convention, was brought to the United States for the first time 2012 in Los Angeles, California. It took three years for it to spread it's Hallyu wave to the east coast. KCONNY, taken place in New York metropolitan area, first came on August 8, 2015. Though it was much smaller than KCONLA, it still drew 17,000 fans from different states all over the country.

On March 10, KCON announced its return to the states with two days in New York metropolitan area and three days in Los Angeles. This is an extra day of convention and concert compared to last year. The line up for the concert has yet to be revealed but fans are already excited from the announcement alone. KCONNY 2015 had four groups comes and this year, fans are asking for more.

The typical line up mostly consist of a mix of rookie groups and an older groups.
The KPOP community showed diversity in it's fan base but did not lack in passion. For most, it was their first concert and first experience seeing a KPOP star or even being exposed to Korean culture in real life. Most fans can only get in touch with Korea through the internet and watch Korean music videos or Korean dramas.

UPDATE (04/06): Rookie group SEVENTEEN and trending group MAMAMOO have been confirmed for the New York line up!

  1. With myself being a multifandom fan, I want to relate with Korean idols and experience firsthand their presence. Hair, looks, clothes, and even the way they walk. Among those that I cherish are BTS, GOT7, GFRIEND, SEVENTEEN, and Ikon; it would be more than amazing to see them in the flesh rather than to see them on the screen of my laptop or phone.
