Kimbap vs Sushi

Kimbap is a Korean dish in which white rice and various other ingredients are wrapped in seaweed and is served in slices. How is this different from sushi? Sushi is cooked vinegar rice mixed with ingredients such as seafood or vegetables. It depends on what type of rice since there can be many variations of either roll. Kimbap can contain any type of rice, usually medium grain white rice. The filling can be anything that ranges from spam to even nothing at all. The seaweed that is wrapped around the roll is usually toasted or flavored with sesame oil. For sushi, if the rice is not cooked with vinegar, it is not considered sushi. The filling can include raw fish or cooked seafood along with steamed vegetables. Also, the seaweed that is wrapped around the roll is called nori seaweed, which is toasted but never flavored.

Kimbap is a Korean dish. Notice how the rolls look slighter larger than sushi.
Sushi is a Japanese dish that can also be called "makizushi"

  1. I didn't know the difference between kimbap and sushi before reading this post. I'm sure that it will prove useful in the future. Intermingling questions with sentences is nice.
